Chili Cook-Off

THANKS to Chips and the Palace Casinos for making it possible for the Chamber to sponsor this event as part of the Centennial Celebration in La Center! There were about 225 people who tested the 9 entries. Sad to say, the Chamber entries: La Center Education Foundation [Madi and Don Deotsch], Miss Teen La Center [Linda Tracy], nor Wendy's chili won, but it was a lot of fun and we were able to exceed our fundraising expectations.

Mystery Dinner Theater: Mystery at the La Center Saloon

Over 75 people enjoyed a fabulous evening of food, fun, poker and mystery! Thanks to all who participated and especially to our sponsors, the Last Frontier and New Phoenix Casinos. Sadly to say, Mitch Maverick [alias Jim Irish] was shot dead by Montgomery Money [Murray Falk]. Harry Highstakes [Scott Edwards] led the evening, Gambling Jack [Ben Tracy] and Billie the Bartender [Ken McGraw] dealt a rousing tournament of Texas Hold ‘em, and Taffy Garrett [Randi Gay] entertained us with antics befitting a saloon girl. It was such a hoot, we think we will do it again!!!

Wish we had pictures of everyone and the great costumes...special kudos go to Jeff Sarvis, Tim Hopkins, Karen Dodds, Linda Tracy, Roxsan Gregg [she won best dressed], Adria Biassi, Candy Falk, and all the rest of the cast!

What a fun month August was! Hope you didn’t miss any of it!

Wendy McGraw, Chamber President.
