Presidents message:

Dear Chamber Members and Neighbors,

This is the last President's Message I will be writing for the Chamber Newsletter. It makes me a little sad! My term as your President has been filled with activities in local communities and behind the scenes with efforts to improve the business atmosphere in Southwest Washington. I am proud of our area and have been able to promote North Clark County to people relocating, to other Chambers, and to our residents! We have been an active force and have accomplished a lot this year, including the Culpepper and Meriweather Circus, the Murder Mystery Dinner, the many events during the Centennial Celebration, the Chili Cook-Off, and so much more. Our membership has been down, but our spirits have been up and I want to sincerely thank the many people who have taken an active part in our Chamber.

Linda Tracy [A Formal Affair] has been elected as your new President for 2010, Scott Edwards [The Computer Guy] as First Vice-President, and Al Lane [Envoy Mortgage] will be serving as your Second Vice-President. The Treasurer Position will again be filled by Denise Koopman, and the Secretary Position has not been confirmed by the person who was voted in! We will let you know as soon as that happens. I will be serving on the Board of Directors for the next two years.

Several big events are coming up: The La Center Christmas Festival December 5-6, Ridgefield Hometown Celebration on the 5th, and the Chamber Christmas Party on the 9th! Mark your calendars for the last hurrahs of the year! We will not have First Wednesday nor our regular General Meeting this month. Instead, there is going to be a strategic planning session on the 16th and everyone is welcome to come and help us plan our 2010 goals.

Thank you for allowing me to lead the La Center North Clark County Chamber of Commerce. It has been an honor.

Wendy McGraw
President, 2009

LOWER DAYBREAK REGIONAL PARK

CLARK COUNTY PRESS RELEASE

November 24, 2009

Dec. 8 meeting to gather input on Lower
Daybreak Park plans

Vancouver, WA - Park and outdoor recreation enthusiasts are invited to a public meeting on Dec. 8 to provide input on the future of Lower Daybreak Regional Park. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Daybreak Primary and Middle School Commons, 1900 NW 20th Ave., Battle Ground.

Lower Daybreak Regional Park is part of Daybreak Regional Park and Boat Launch, which is located at 26401 NE Daybreak Road, between the cities of La Center and Battle Ground. This 112-acre undeveloped property is located on the south bank of the East Fork Lewis River, west of the boat launch.

At the public meeting, project staff will invite comments on a draft concept plan for the park. This plan is based on input from a public meeting in October, funding, partnership opportunities and environmental considerations. It will show the types and locations of recreation opportunities proposed for the park. Input from the Dec. 8 meeting will be used to finalize the concept plan to be included in the parks' overall master plan.

People unable to attend the Dec. 8 public meeting may still participate. Presentation materials will be posted on the project Web page along with an electronic comment form starting Dec. 9. All comments must be received by Dec. 23. The Web page address is: www.clark.wa.gov/legacylands/LowerDaybreak.html.

This planning project is funded by regional real estate excise taxes, which are paid when properties are sold. The county must complete a master plan before development can begin. A master plan identifies a preferred mix of recreation uses and facilities that may be included on a specific park property. The county will install the park features included in the final master plan when funding and partnership opportunities are available.

For more information, please contact Pat Lee at (360) 397-2375 ext. 4070, or by e-mail at Patrick.Lee@clark.wa.gov.

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife
600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091
licensing@dfw.wa.gov

Dear Washington Angler,

Licenses for the 2010 license year (April 2010 - March 2011) will be available for purchase beginning December 1, 2009.
In April 2009, the Washington State Legislature passed into law the requirement beginning April 1, 2010, that any person 15 or older wishing to fish for salmon or steelhead on the Columbia River or its tributaries must have a Columbia River Salmon and Steelhead endorsement in addition to their fishing license. The cost of the endorsement is $8.75 (all fees included) and can be purchased at a license dealer or online (https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov ). The endorsement is good for the license year. Revenue from the endorsement will be dedicated to supporting salmon and steelhead fisheries in those areas.

For more information about the Columbia River Salmon and Steelhead endorsement and to view a map that shows where the endorsement is required, please visit
